Like most people who enter this profession, counseling is a “calling” for me. Had it not been for a few exceptional counselors who helped me to overcome difficult obstacles throughout my own life, I probably would not be where I am today. I feel that the relationships that we have both inside and outside of our home have a significant impact on our life and therefore can be the source of great happiness and unfortunately, at times, can be stressful or painful due to dysfunctionality within the relationship. In my role as a therapist, I feel the client is the expert in their life; and, therefore my job is to collaborate with them in navigating the challenges that bring them into therapy. I help them uncover their own strengths and resources to facilitate the change they are seeking to improve their quality of life overall. I take an eclectic approach when counseling my clients as I feel there is no “one” theory and/or technique that fits all individuals and circumstances.
